As I suspected would be the case, some people who have signed-up for SkS missives would prefer to receive a a weekly digest of posts rather than a separate email for each post on a daily basis.

How difficult would it be to create and implement a set of options for each person who is interesred in getting on a SkS distribution list. The options would be:

1. Daily email notices about posts.

2. Weekly summary of posts.

3. Both daily and weekly notices.

I also believe that the number of people signing up for SkS missives would increase if the weekly summary option were available.

There's a reason why the overwhelming majority of webistes like SkS do not send an individual email notice each time a new article is posted -- most people simply do not like receiving multiple emails from a single source during the course of the day. I believe this is why the SkS distribution list currently contains leass than 1,300 addresses.

It's time to switch to an SkS Daily Digest.

Personally, I like the format of Science Blog's daily missive. It's simple and easy to use.

John and I talked about the weekly digest being an option to replace the immediate emails.  It wouldn't be too terribly hard to do.  He said if the weekly digest sticks, he'll work on that option.

My webhost doesn't like the instant 1300 emails getting sent out all the time so I'm switching to daily digests. More on this soon, have to do some coding first.

Now that the Weekly Digest is an establshed feature, can we give SkS readers the option of signing-up for receipt of the weekly digest only?
