|2011-09-05 08:04:57||National Weather Service has outlived its usefulness (besides its warmist-socialist) - Competitive Enterprise Institute|
From the daily Kos:
Taking on our possibly socialist presumptions that government might have a role in warning citizens of possible imminent doom were, for this particular exercise, Competitive Enterprise Institute pundits Iain Murray and David Bier:
As Hurricane Irene bears down on the East Coast, news stations bombard our televisions with constant updates from the National Hurricane Center.
You can't make this stuff up... hmm I seem to be saying that a lot lately. Read the whole thing, it's funny and well done - sadly true as well.
What a load of absolute bullshit! i agree Stephen you cannot make this nonsense up...
I'm sure that you are aware of the recent NY times article which actually crunche dsome number sand found that Irene was in fact not overhyped. The NWS and NHC were invaluable, and their prompt and accurate forecasts and warnings saved countless lives-- how many we will never know, but how about Murray and Bier (and their families and CEI pals) volunteer for an experiment when they stand in the path of a hurricane (ideally in a vunerbale area) and ride it out with no information whatsoever from the NWS/NHC. Better still, that the coast guard and other first repsonders and emergency preparedness officials have to help them out with no information from the NWS/NHC whatsoever. A better scenario would have them get hit by a hurricane with no warming period, it would just come out of "nowhere". Would they survive? Unlikely.
Seems that some of these guys have a tin ear.
the entire US federal government should be privatized. But wait, the US already has a government of big corporations, by big corporations, and for big corporations.
