2011-07-19 05:33:27John Cook : 'observed sea level rise is already above IPCC projections and strongly hints at acceleration'
John Cook

Steve Goddard loves to have a go at my faith:

Actually, recent sea level rise is below IPCC projections and is clearly decelerating.  Why does someone who calls himself an “evangelical Christian” intentionally mislead his readers? How much does Cook get paid to promote this BS?

But a comment from Brian Valentine (who I think is a regular at Jo Nova) absolutely cracks me up:

What was “measuring” CO2 wavelengths to space in the 1970′s, anyway. The Star Ship Enterprise?

These people really need to throw out their Star Trek toys, move out of mom’s basement, and get a job.

I know if I respond to it, it will stir up a hornet's nest then I'll have to keep an eye on the thread all day when I simply don't have the time at the moment. But I don't think I'll be able to resist this one. Brian's denial of basic satellite observations is so stark, can't resist the urge to poke this ant's nest to see the response (I justify it by telling myself this is a cognitive experiment in understanding denial better).

John, and have they not been measuring downward LW radiation for longer than we have had satellite data anyhow?

Saw your comment there JC, but I'm telling ya, it'll be like that ape scene from 2001:A Space Odyssey.

Nimbus-4. Might sound like sci-fi to those who don't pay any attention, but it was real.

Then again, I suspect they'll just say that this satellite was faked, 'like the moon landings'.
