The second half of this Podcast sees rather different perspectives on the demand of energy
Daniel Yergin - author of The Prize thinks energy demand will reduce as efficiency measures are introduced. Malcolm Brinded of Royal Dutch Shell in contrast thinks that world demand and supply will increase substantially, efficiency gains will be limited and extraction technologies will improve substantially, but not nearly enough to meet demand. Interestingly Brinded sees climate change as a potential influence of world demand, and emphasises the need not to exceed the 2C limit. I'm just not completely sure that is consistent with what he said previously, and if he understands such 'pressures' will come far too late.
