Going to Space... for War?

I was browsing some job postings today when I saw a job interview that made me happy. It begins with a summary section that starts:

The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win...in air, space and cyberspace. To achieve that mission, the Air Force has a vision of Global Vigilance, Reach and Power. That vision orbits around three core competencies: Developing Airmen, Technology-to-Warfighting and Integrating Operations. Core competencies and distinctive capabilities are based on a shared commitment to three core values -- integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.

I'm not entirely certain how one flies in cyberspace, but I am happy to know the United States Air Force is planning to fight battles in outer space.

  1. 30 year old Tom Clancy book without Jack Ryan, Red Storm Rising. Has the ridiculous plot point that Russia needs to invade the Persian Gulf, but to keep America from getting involved they have to conquer Europe first. Once you get past that, it is an extended war game.

It has the Air Force taking out a satellite.
