After repeated counselling by myself and e, with various regular posters helping, L.J. Ryan has opted to continue to treat the Comments Policy as not applicable to him.

With regret I have reset his status to Spammer.

Apologies to all.

LJ Ryan (98.114.92.78) gets banned for refusing to adhere to the Comments Policy and later the same day Jigoro Kano (98.114.92.78) begins posting on the same thread (Jigoro Kano is the founder of Judo).

Both use free email services and both use hard passwords (yx5b@6ot4Pt for LJRyan and 3nu6N7gSF1 for Jigoro Kano).  IP searches show both originating in Washington, DC.  The area has a lot of college housing and brownstone walkups, if memory serves (I spent nearly 13 years working in DC).  Beyond that, both have a tendency to go off-topic (who doesn't) and post unsubstantiated claims that they do not later back up when called on it.

But then there's the duplicate IP addresses...the odds of another person using the same IP address with hard passwords visiting SkS...extremely low possibility.

If others feel he should be banned, let me know.

If you're satisfied it's the same troll ban him. Sounds like you've presented a compelling case, and it's a privilege, not a right, to post here, correct?

Posting comments is indeed a privilege.  One I treasure.

As for LJ=JK, I feel pretty sure about it.  But at the same time, it's not my way or the highway.  SkS is a community; as such, I'd like to be sure that moderation is a reflection of the community's opinion.  If others feel the same, then bye-bye he goes.

FYI, if you had any doubts, KR and I both tangled with that nut job LJ over the 2nd law of thermodynamics on Jo Nova's travesty of a site.  His main contention was that you can't engineer a product that moves cold to hot... and Jigoro launced into the exact same argument on the denier/skeptic thread.

Just to try something, I reset his account back to User & then back again to Spammer.

No good.  Up to 8 comments in the Deleted bin now.

Just reset his password, maybe that will work.

Clever dude.

Now back posting as Ryan L.J.; bouncing IP from Chicago to Long Island, NY instead of his usual Washington, D.C.

CO2 is just a trace gas
Dikran Marsupial @48

For your double pendulum analogy to be truly accurate, the electromagnetic field must be powered from the dynamic non-linear chaotic motion of the pendulum itself. Moreover, the drive which powers pendulum can only account for 62% of it's peak drive energy, the other 38% must somehow be derived from the conductor (pendulum) passing through the magnetic field (CO2)...powered by the pendulum...which gets 38% of it's drive energy from the electromagnetic field feedback...etc. Now I suppose 38% represents the entirety of atmospheric forcing not just CO2, so adjust accordingly. Good luck!
