A revealing look at Dr Jay can be found on WUWT.  Can't seem to find where he took his 'phd,' though.  Funny thing, I never saw anyone with an actual PhD refer to it as a 'phd.'

Remember to use the "no follow code"!

Sure is an awful lot of deaf & blind going on over there.

CadMan is here (no follow code included):

As in rel="nofollow" ?  Didn't know about that.

Yup.  Will keep Watts from tracking back to a firewall, which would help apprise him on the Forum's existence (and scope, if everyone didn't use it).

Maybe I give him too much credit.

John posted on the code here (the last comment):

Suggestion John.

Can the insert/edit link button be modified to automatically include the nofollow code - I can see it there in the advanced options list. Having that set as the default would guard against lots of oopsies.

Note - it's not important to put nofollow in the forum - only in public posts. The point is if Google sees links to an external website, they give what I call "google kudos" to that external link which helps their search engine rankings. The more links to a webpage, the better it ranks in google (which is why I originally built SkS as a site that people would link to, to get good search engine rankings).

So linking to WUWT gives him google kudos. But only if google's search bots see the link. The googlebot can't see forum links as the forum is password protected, you need to have a privileged user account to access these pages. So only use rel="nofollow" on public blog posts.

However, I don't think using rel="nofollow" will stop SkS from coming up in WUWT stats so he probably would still see inbound links from our forum. I've been meaning to write code that obfuscates it - but hadn't got around to it yet. It involves regular expressions - writing PHP code that takes any <a href="http://www.domain.com/"> link and converts it to <a href="http://www.skepticalscience.com/redirect.php?u=http://www.domain.com/">. Anyone here good at regex?

Ask Oslo; he seems a whiz at PHP (he's working on the Instant Chat function for you).

Hmm, I could not resist taking a poke at Dr. Cadbury recently.  Surprisingly he seemed to disapper from that thread after I did so.  It really, really annoys me when people tout their credentials. Roy Spencer does it too.

I'm pretty god at Googling, but could not find anything on Jay.  I suspect his credentials are fake, that or he has gone emeritus.

Cadbury is a complete phoney; made a spectacle of himself on RC a bit ago.

No more a PhD than this guy:
