I'm sick of this guy.  His admission that he's not interested in facts, followed by this declaration of 'put up or shut up' should seal it.

It's the exact same path he followed at RC.  When people stopped letting him waste their time he moved on.  He'as already put in 1 comment over at Open Mind, but Tamino won't stand for his schtick long if he persists.

He's a vampyre troll, nothing more.  Uninterested in anything but wasting the time of others.

His obsession with fossil fuels is really annoying, too.

I have to admit, I've been aggressively taking him on.  But deleting him wholesale may have done the trick.  Let's hope...

Damorbel must go next.

Gilles returns to the fray, displaying some fuzzy math. Can he stand CBD and Phil tag-teaming him.

But Down Goes Damorbel!  Caught in a complete 180 on the 2nd Law thread!

Yup, KR got him with the 2nd Law version of baseball's hidden-ball trick: "Remember what you said 4 score and 12 comments ago..."

Other baseball analogies:

Like a hitter sittin' on Uncle Charlie & taking the heater down the middle for strike 3...

Like Babe Ruth ending the (1925) World Series getting thrown out trying to steal 2nd base with Lou Gehrig at the plate representing the tying run (that one STILL hurts)... (yeah, that one actually happened)

Yeah, well, KR had a pretty good pass from his right wing.  Trust KR to keep his stick on the ice when he's in front of the net.

You, a Yankees fan?  I'm the N'Yawker.

Since '76.  Still the only baseball cap I wear (well, a U-of-M hat, too).  After '77 I re-tooled my baseball swing to mimic Reggie's (I had it down).  After '78 I only wore 44 until I stopped playing sports back in 2001.

I give KR all the credit in the world for having the patience to wait until the hook was set.  Even RW1 was smelling the reek of troll down the stretch...

Now, to pick off Gilles...

The misunderstandings in the post that DB deteleted earlier today (good call) tripped my troll-o-meter well and truely, Gilles would have to be a complete imbicile (which I don't think is the case) for either to have been genuine, two in the same post...

Perhaps the moderators should have a troll-o-meter gadget that we could use to make posts containing trolling to suggest that (a) people perhaps shouldn't respong and (b) the poster needs to have a think about the content of his/her posts? ;o)

Which, when pressed, renders the author of an egregious comment's account inert for 7 days.

A "cooling off" period, if you will.

No, Gilles is no imbecille; far from it, he knows exactly what he's doing.  He makes very few mistakes, but his recent "I'm a scientist" slip was a complete faux paus on his part.  His "I'm a teacher" claim from earlier is also a lie.

I think he's a pro (on the payola to waste our time).

The on-line chess place where I play has a gadget so that you can grade your opponents on politeness and timeliness, you you can avoid interacting with the ill-mannered.  Perhaps if the moderators can flag posts up as trolling when they see it, and peoples posts have a row of pictures of trolls after their name, indicating the proportion of their posts labelled as trolling, so that everybody is aware of their methods and can be warned not to bother responding.  This would be better than sin-binning as that just ends up with accusations of censorship.

The obvious deletions are easy; sometimes I find myself thinking that a comment should go, but it's not so clear cut.  Perhaps the moderator/author group can have a thumbs down widget similar to the one in the author's forum.  Based on the number of down votes, deletion, probation or the boot could be more objectively assessed.

Given Gilles' degeneration into absolutely undisguised trolling, I agree with muoncounter, he is just here to block discussion.  Likewise Denial Maris.  I am not generally in favour of barring people, but those two have more than earned it.

I think this may be Professor Gilles Henri.

I expect that John can check his sign-up details.

he appears to finally have got the idea of falsificationism; one wonders how he got to where he is without having learned that before coming here!  Just goes to show the educational value of SkS! ;o)

I feel really sorry for his post-grad students if he has any.
