No Nealstradamus - Elle McPherson is next!

Very cool. I'm a fan of Al Jazeera news. Beats the local crap we have here on TV in NZ.

muoncounter,

It would be interesting if anyone in the US notices it.

SkS has an international audience. Let's not let how things might play out in the US be the sole determinant of what we do.

That's good.

What are the chances Fox will feature SkS as site of the week? ;-)

Mind you site of the week doesn't sound so impressive, that's 52 different sites per year.

Al Jazeera is actually one of the really good sources of journalism these days.  Someone, a real journalist (or a bunch of them), have done a great job of creating a global news reporting netword.  They've also become very popular worldwide.  I'd say they're really taking over the mantle of NPR for doing hard news.

Al Jazeera is providing a news product that all but disappeared in the US today:  Unbiased news.

Rob H,

I don't disagree with you. But in the US, I think the prejudgment will be that this is "Taliban News Corp." If anyone notices at all.

Paul D: 52 sites per year isn't a lot - but for 7 days SkS will be rated by the world's favorite Arabic site - Al Jazeera - as the 1 in about 350 million best web site.

Wow!  Dude! Excellent! ( Plays air guitar. )

Al Jazeera is on Freeview (the basic free to air digital tv that is replacing the analogue system) here in the UK, along with Sky News, BBC News 24 and Russia Today.

I concur with John Hartz, AGW is a global problem and our audience is global.

I know that it can't be that easy, but I can not forget the represetative of the Small Island States at the closing session in Bali 2007 say (almost shouting) to the USA representative "we ask you to lead but if you're not willing to lead get out of the way".

Now, look at the map in the Team page, we're all from the developed western nations. I would very much welcome people from other parts of the world and if being on Al Jazera may help, well, it's great.

Back to the USA problem, I know there are people who see each and every arab as a potential terrorist. To them, being SkS on Al Jazera will make us look backing the terrorists or working for the world government. I don't care, a vastly larger number of people think otherwise and to those poeple we are trying to talk.

I can't see on the Al Jazeera site where they have the 'site of the week'??

and so will the name-calling.  Watts et al will have a field day with this.  All the concern over name-calling expressed over the past week? That will look like a picnic compared to what this could unleash.

I would tactfully suggest that they can link to content here (which they can do anyway), but not display any form of SkS logo.

- Who else has been "site of the week" previously?

- Maybe it would be worthwhile to consult with the Gore people about the Al Jazeera deal: Just for some political advice. Off-the-record, no written trail.

This great. Al Jazeera is an excellent news outlet (their coverage of the Libyan insurrection was very good) and only the truly bigoted will think that this taints SkS in any way. Actually, if this does blow up at WUWT, that will only make them look bad in the eyes of most people.
