The following is the text of James Hansen's braodcast email of Aug 26.

The revised version of Earth's Energy Imbalance and Implications excludes the long section on climate sensitivity that was in the first draft (that section was moved into the paper "Paleoclimate Implications for Human-Made Climate Change", which has been accepted for publication).  The Energy Imbalance paper is now better focused and of a more publishable length.  Criticisms welcome.  We will probably submit it for publication in about a week, perhaps to Atmos. Chem. Phys. -- there does not seem to be an ideal journal for a necessarily lengthy paper cutting across the fields that are involved -- alternative suggestions welcome.  I will make available the paper that is submitted, along with a 2-page "popular science" summary.

I will be on vacation next Monday, attending Bill McKibben's (350.org) tar sands rally in DC, probably providing a discussion of the importance of not developing these highly polluting unconventional fossil fuels on C-Span at 9 AM.
