There is a review of a new book in New Scientist called Global Climate Change: A primer by Orrin and Keith Pilkey, Duke University Press. Looks interesting, has a section on sceptics. They claim the 'energy industry' targeted older, less educated males and younger, lower income women for their sceptic marketing.

Indeed they did and I often remind people of this.  George Monboit wrote a excellent article on this some time ago.

Another jaw dropper is that the Global Climate Coalition, a group representing industries with profits tied to fossil fuels, led an aggressive lobbying and public relations campaign against the idea that emissions of heat-trapping gases could lead to global warming.  Yet its own scientific and technical experts were advising that the science backing the role of greenhouse gases in global warming could not be refuted.
