It is a game of chicken right now.

I believe a deal will be closed on 1 August: Otherwise Wall St. will be VERY unhappy with the GOP.

Probably it will be along McConnell's lines: Obama gets the ceiling-lift, but Republicans get to say they voted against it.

Yeah, Republicans will get to say they voted against it but Dems are going to get to drag their names through the mud because of this mess.  I think Cantor is handing Obama a victory in 2012 on this one.

It's just bizarre to me that the Republicans went into the whole debate with a signed "no tax increase" pledge from Republicans in Congress.  I mean, if you're going to do that and mean it, why even talk?  They created a lose-lose scenario from the get-go.
