The following article caught my eye and caused me to wonder if climate scientists have heretofore categorized wildfires asa feedback mechanism? Has the concept of wildfires being a feedback mechanism been specifically addressed in a posted SkS article. In the context of the above, Empirical evidence for positive feedback posted by John cook in Nov 2007 could be updated. Maybe wildfires deserve their own blog post - I believe there is evidence that changes have already been observed in North America and linked to rising temperatures, dry soils and vegetation and early snow melt. And of course they act as a positive feedback. Certainly worth investigating. | |
