This is an discussion of why a senior correspondent for a news organization in Canada quit his job. It talks a lot about politics and media and how this rising star could no longer stomach his industry. Very interesting read.

I'd never heard of him but that was a powerful statement. It would be nice to think that there might be a turning point at some point soon and that Fox-type news will lose its grip. I can only dream.

Great read. I think he has cottoned onto the fact that few people (comparatively speaking) in society are passionate about doing the right thing. Like drones in an ant colony, most of society is simply born into a system and squabble with each other to fulfil the roles doled out to them. They don't care if the system is bad, damaging or corrupt.

People have their priorities and generally speaking integrity is not considered as much of one throughout western society as consumptive habits. I'm not anti-capitalist but I do see the danger of having our economy and medias so linked to consumptive behavior. True objective journalism right now is needed and yet people who conduct it are termed partisan. I think the most interesting thing is that facts have now become things that are shaped by those who report them.
