I've come across this paper before, and wonder if any of the maths savvy members have any opinon on it.  In particular, is this a valid use of the Virial theorem, and are the proofs sound?

No, this is a pretty pathetic presentation & application of the virial theorem.

Pacheco & Sañudo have published a much better one; and I even did one of my own, to cover the same ground.

Toth dreamed this up trying to understand and justify Miscolczi's "disproof of the greenhouse effect".

nealjking, thanks.  Do you have a link (or full citation) for Pacheco and Sanudo, or for your own paper?

I think this might be what Neal was referring to, the Pacheco and Sanudo paper.

P & S: I can send you a copy, otherwise it's $$ (see Alex's link above). Misckolczi was kind enough to send it to me.

Mine: Likewise, it's easier to send you a copy directly, as it's not published.
