The "Global Warming Initiative" has sent to probably every member of Congress a DVD of the "Boy Who Cried Warming."

These guys are well funded and well connected. In contrast, all we have are our wits, our passion and each other. We're in for a tough fight in 2011.

I suspect that the video will also be distributed in the US to Governors, state legislators and the business community through state and local chambers of commerce.

The "Forces of Evil" (i.e., the Koch brothers, Murdoch, Big Oil, Big Coal, Big Natural Gas, etc.) do indeed have unlimited resources and their campaign to prevent governments from taking meaning ful action to curb CO2 emmissions is indeed international in scope.

As Jame Hansen recently said, China may be the world's only hope. Most of the world's democracies, including the US, are totally controlled by mega international corporations.

The Politco article that I referenced in my prior note is: "GOP staff, energy lobby in closed-door talks"

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0111/47867.html

It details the lastest developemnts in the Republican/Tea Party/Libertarian push to prevent the the EPA from regulating GHG emissions.

Given the finanacial and political clout of the industies (identified in the article) backing this legislative inititaitve, I suspect a bill could eventually wind-up on President Obamna's desk. If that were to happen, he would be under tremendous pressure to sign it into law.  If he were to do so, he would loose a good portion of his liberal base. Under that scenario, he would probably be challenged in the Democractic primaies much like Ted Kennedy did when Jimmy Carter ran for re-election. Ronald Reagan ultimately dfeated Carter and the rest is history.
