Hi all,

David Rose is misinforming and distorting again:

Go here for the truth:

Please take a few minutes to contact the Met Office to request that they address this important issue pronto.  You can contact the Met Office's press office at pressoffice@metoffice.gov.uk.

If anyone has Dr. Vicky Pope's email, please contact her too.  Thanks a bunch.

The climate science rapid response team have been discussing this article and working on a response.

all the arguments in this article have been rebutted on SkS but if anyone wants to write a blog post assembling all our rebuttals into a single post, be my guest!

Hi John,

Thanks-- that that is great news that they are working on a response-- the Rose piece is jam packed full of misinformation.

I actually emailed the  "climate science rapid response team", as well as the AGU "Climate question and answer service".  They probably have received quite a few complaints from concerned parties.

That all said, I think it critical that the Met Office and/or Hadley Centre respond to this in a public forum, since they were the target of much of the distortion.  Hopefully they do make the effort to respond promptly.

Cheers,

Albatross

You can imagine it, some journalist sits in front of a computer, the standard story is to report about the snow problems, roads clogged, aircraft grounded, boring!

"I know, I'll regurgitate all that stuff about climate skepticism and link it to the snow. I get to pay the mortgage and the boss is kept happy. Job done."

Here's the response from the CSRRT. Specifically, George Monbiot put in a response, a bunch of scientists sent back answers and Monbiot assembled them into this article in the Guardian:

Erm. yes well.
I actually made the effort to signup to make a comment.
I think the fact that I mentioned the article failed to meet their own comments policy standards, might have had something to do with the fact that my comment never appeared.
