Looks interesting... I'm about to try it out. If you google 'climate challenge BBC' you can play the far simpler precursor for free. :)

It's good to see this being created.

At one stage I did consider having a go at reworking the 'Civilisation' game idea into an eco game.

I'm wondering whether this new game will have a competitive element?
I have to say that when I play Civilisation I want to build the biggest army and become a world dictator!
I turn off the diplomacy and time limit stuff for winning :-)

Civilisation 2 was made back in 1995 and that had global warming in it...

I think I ended up solving it by building solar power stations and nuking the countries that didn't. Of course, there's no way that's going to work in real life. (I would say 'because solar's too expensive', but climategate has mda eme nervous of jokes)

In civilisation IV there is the option of building wind turbines, hydro electric for a city improvement near a river, and recycling plants. Oh, but global warming is caused by nuclear war!???!

That's the really dumb thing in IV, I don't know what drugs they were on when they did that.

Civilisation V was released a few weeks ago, but when I looked at the machine spec it was clear my old Pentium machine wasn't up to the job. I don't know what they have done in V.

Mark, so is the game any good?

They are supposed to be publishing it proper this year.

MarkR: I love it! The ultimatum would be: "Go solar, or go NUCLEAR! Get it?!"

The Ville: Maybe they had global warming confused with nuclear winter?
