This is an interesting document, outlines strategies for dissenting scientists. Almost a handbook for deniers:

Here's how to circumvent consensus and bring down mainstream science:

  • Mimic orthodox science
  • Aim at lower status outlets (eg - c-lister journals that still get you peer review status)
  • Enlist patrons
  • Seek a different audience (this is what the blogosphere was invented for)
  • Expose suppressions of dissent
  • Build a social movement

An interesting read John.

And probably very good advice for scientists who are dissenters to the mainstream view in some field who are eventually proved correct - Bacteria cause Ulcers for example.

Unfortunately it is also good advice for dissenters to the mainstream view in some field who are eventually proved incorrect.
