We'll be launching Christy Crocks probably on Monday. Here's the page:

http://www.skepticalscience.com/skeptic_John_Christy.htm

We've got plenty of quotes (thanx to Dana) so we're all sorted there. But we don't have many articles by Christy. Can anyone track any articles by him? Here are instructions on How to assign articles to skeptics

Lastly, here's a proposed design for the CC button. Feedback anyone?

Hmm so are you going for the crock plot exploding and spelling out Christy Crocks?  At first I wasn't sure about it, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.  But I'm not sure the thingy on the left looks like a crock pot, though it would be difficult to immediately identify a crock pot from its outline.

It kind of reminds me of a tiled kitchen wall that the kids have been painting on :-)

Should it be the possessive Christy's Crocks?

2011-06-04 20:24:09None of the others are possessive

Monckton Myths. Lindzen Illusions. A tenet of social media - If in doubt, use less letters.
2011-06-04 22:16:34Singular is fine (don't want some to think there's more than one Christy)

If the crock had a set of small handles then it would look less like a coffee mug.  With the color you use for it, it looks for all the world now like a coffee mug.

I like the artistice style/theme (throw enough crap against the wall & some will stick).

Kind of like a million monkees typing...

Yeah, a couple handles on the crock might help.  I've got CC #6 on the schedule for Tuesdsay, Aussie time.  Could you stick the button in there for me, John?

I'll tweak the button - add the handles and might clean up the wording slightly to help readability. Dana, will add it to your post.

There is still only 1 Christy article in our database so if any SkSers can add a few extras, woul be gat.

Lastly, we really should be releasing press releases when we launch resources like the peer review visualization and Christy Crocks. This will require writing a press release for Christy Crocks and tracking down websites like prweb where we should send the releases.

A few minutes ago, a climate denier drone posted the following quote from Christy on the comment thread to "Taking Stock of Climte-Change Skeptics" posted on NPR. http://www.npr.org/blogs/13.7/2011/06/03/136884396/taking-stock-of-climate-change-skeptics

Here is the real deal. It is getting warmer...we are in the Holocene age coming out of an Ice Age. The amount of money spent by the oil companies on anti-climate change propaganda is more than dwarfed by the money spent trying to prove Anthropogenic Global Warming. Millions to billions in fact. This is a real problem with science these days... you need money to do research sooo, you have to go where the money is. If you want to study any system or animal in this economic atmosphere you need to have a climate change angle to it or YOU WILL NOT GET FUNDING!!! Wanna study The American Prairie Dog? The your grant proposal should have something like this in it: We need money to study the American Prairie dog and long term effects of Anthropogenic Global warming on the species. Scientists are corruptable just like politicians or any other human. Money talks. I am a skeptic. senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=38d98c0a-802a-23ad-48ac-d9f7facb61a7

I don't think Christy has written any MSM articles, John.  I can't find any.

If you want more time with the button and press release, we can unveil it with the Christy summary post I drafted up today, instead of CC #6.

I take that back, I found one by Christy, and a couple with interviews of him.  This one is a gem from 2001, talking about how his satellite data proved the surface temperature exaggerates the warming trend.  Whoopsie!  No wonder he's a "skeptic" after that massive embarassment.

Dana, have you watched the Great Global Warming Swindle, by the tosser Martin Durkin? Christy has a fair bit to say in that.

Ugh yeah don't remind me, I managed to stomach watching that vile propaganda piece not long after it came out.  I do recall Christy saying the satellite data showed there wasn't much warming, and I think it was aired after the problems with the satellite data had been uncovered, too.  It was a while back though, so I may be remebering incorrectly.

Let's play the 'name the logical fallacies' game:

"While carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen in recent years due to burning fossil fuels, the extra CO2 gas has generally spread almost evenly around the globe instead of concentrating in the Northern Hemisphere.

What does stay in the atmosphere over the Northern Hemisphere is sulfate pollution caused by burning fossil fuels, Christy said. Sulfate particles, which generally stay in the atmosphere less than two weeks, reflect sunlight back into space. This should cause a cooling effect that would be strongest near and down wind from the site of the pollution."
