John H, Would it matter if you changed the headline? I think the key point is that greenhouse gases initiated the Great Dying - you know that friendly ol' plant food sutff (methane breaks down into CO2)

Rob,

What headline would you suggest?

Suggestion:

move the press release headline to below the words "This is a reprint ..."

Use a different SkS headline such as: "Death Step by Step - A Lesson From The Past".

I would suggest "worldwide" rather than "global": worldwide means everywhere, but global means everything (as well). 90% is not everything.

Use of "death" instead of "extinction" I don't recommend: There is a difference between the implication of human extinction (as would be suggested by "death") and that of an eviscerated biosphere, miserable though that will be. We don't want to be accused of being inaccurately alarmist. The accurate alarmism is bad enough.
