Under 'blaming the Sun' you write "We can the equilibrium temperature response to this TSI increase by multiplying the radiative forcing by the climate sensitivity parameter (λ)."

Fix that :p

I'd cut off the last 2 IPCC paragraphs to make it shorter and get rid of one of the extra lines between paragraphs in the blockquote.

I'd probably not refer to the GWPF as climate denialists either. I know they are, but it gets across the point if you call them something like an 'anti-climate policy think tank'.

Dana,

You first sentence implies that Varenholt is the sole author of the book, when in fact he co-authored it with geologist Sebastian Lüning. Your first sentence should therefore be apporpriately modified.

From Stern:

RWE: Employer of Vahrenholt and Sebastian Lüning and, incidentally, Germany's second-largest energy company...

http://www.stern.de/

Google mangle translate

RWE AG is a multi-faceted energy company.  What they would rather not have the public know is that they want to invest more in oil than other energy types.

Luning is employed in the oil division.

Nuff said.

Thanks, I'll revise to call RWE an energy company as opposed to specifically a renewable energy company.

Dana,

Check out these articles before you finalize your post:

"'Germany's George Monbiot' turns climate sceptic", Delingpole, The Telegraph, Feb 7, 2012

Solar Shift Rocks Germany. GWPF, Feb 7, 2012

Just a few minor nits:

"In the second half of the 20th century, solar activity was also flat. Vahrenholt does not seem to understand that the climate response to increasing solar activity, not flat solar activity, even if at a relatively high level."

Doesn't seem to make sense.

And in the paragraph below that:

"We can etimate"

Other than that, top notch as ever.

Why doesn't that sentence make sense Rob?  You only get a temperature change for a change in radiative forcing, which corresponds to a change in TSI.  Flat TSI at a high level doesn't cause warming.  Is the sentence unclear?

Dana, there's something missing from the sentence. Look again: "Vahrenholt does not seem to understand that the climate response to increasing solar activity, not flat solar activity, even if at a relatively high level."

Oh, duh, thanks.  That should say climate responds, not response.  Will go fix it now.

- oscillations switching between positive and negative states, moving heat around between the oceans and atmosphere.  Since both oceans and atmosphere are warming, it must be do to an external forcing, not an internal oscillation.

, it must be due to an external forcing, not an internal oscillation.

Not a big enough error to point out in public.  I guess I can wait.  ;-)
