Why did you choose 1997 as the starting point in the 'warming up' section?

It was the starting point Michaels chose.  Think I should clarify that?

OK - I added in a part to clarify the choice of start date in that section.  I have also greatly modified the section RE Nordhaus, including a better descrition of the DICE model and its results.  Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

throwing in the towel, from boxing, suggests giving up.

nailing his colors - flag - to the mast is the strongest suggestion of refusing to surrender, but also suggests that Michaels is demonstrating a strong bond between himself and the other idiots.

Made the suggested change, thanks for that.  I was wondering myself if I had used the correct phrase...

A couple questions:

- Do you think that it would be too much to add the picture of the heat content graphic from von Schuckmann et al?  That would be quite a few graphics, not sure if there would be an issue with space.

- How do I block off quotes, as in indenting them?

Alex,

To block off quotes, highlight the sentence or paragraph and click on the 6th button, " , of the top tool bar.

Looking good Alex.  I don't think adding the OHC graphic would detract.  I'd suggest trying to come up with a more specific title though.  Maybe something with Nordhaus, since that's the main focus, although you cover other topics too.

Better, but 'the evidence' is rather vague.  Maybe something like 'Michaels Misrepresents Nordhaus and Scientific Evidence in General"?

I'm going to reference this post in the Monckton response by the way.  Monckton misrepresents Tol, who heavily cites Nordhaus.  Very similar situation.

I see that the page is getting a decent number of views, if people would give their impressions, that would be great, so we can get the ball rolling on this.

should be ashamed for purporting -> should not have made. (Sounds like and old fashoined parent. Not sure about making an ethical judgement at all.)

not just satellite data we can guess surface temperatures from -> not just satellite data from which surface temperatures can be estimated. (slight hyperbole, dangling participle)

Great piece, Alex. Typo: "from the perspective or economic growth theory"

And: "Nordaus also, earlier, gives a sneak peak"

Typos:

-".....DICE (Dynamic Integrated model of the Climate and Economy) model, which is an economic model that compares the costs of costs of climate damages..."

-"The net present-value global benefit of the op- timal policy is $3 trillion relative to no controls. This total in- volves"

-"NASA’s GISTEMP is perhaps the most comprehensive of the surface records, as it includes regions excluded by others (such as the polar Arctic, which is left out in HadCRUT for instance; what more, the polar Arctic is also not included...."

Only quibbles I have are that BAU & climate sensitivity need a sentence explaining what they are.

Nice work!

Thanks for the proof read Rob; I wasn't sure what you intended by highlighting the "what more," it looked fine to me, but I replaced it with something else that may be less ambiguous.

I also removed "BAU" and simply inserted "baseline," as I had already explained that prior.  I further explained climate sensitivity, too.
