Powell has read this review and is happy with the content so I'd just need someone to proofread it for me please - I'm not very good at spotting on-screen mistakes

A couple of minor typos:

The last couple of years have ccertainly seen a large number of extreme events take place

In doing this, Powell shows how sciene proceeds from a testable hypothesis

increases ... are the best harbinger

needs plural - harbingers - to match plural 'increases ... are'.

could yield significant results and allow us to protext ourselves > protect

is the expected increase in exteme precipitation > extreme

I only spotted 3 errors - I must be slipping.  ;-)

An excellent review.  Well done.

Just a little proofreading hint.  It's extremely difficult to proofread your own work because you know what you wanted to say.

The best way to get around this is to proofread, for grammar and spelling, backwards.   When you read the last sentence first, you lose the logical flow from writing in the first place and you're much more likely to notice omissions, doublings and errors.

And you'll find as you work your way backwards from last to first that you do concentrate much harder  - because each sentence is isolated.

Thanks for all the feedback - first book review ever, maybe it gets easier with time?

Good advice adelady - it becomes a problem when you know what to expect because you don't pay attention as closely as you would otherwise.
