My drawing erased too much of Florida (perhaps I'm venting over the 2000 election). Want me to restore a little more of Floida?

I see what you mean. Yes we'd better restore Florida otherwise Joe Romm might pick up on it as proof that sea-level is rising faster than IPCC estimates. Thanks!

The figure captions are pretty small, any way to blow them up to the sizes typical in other articles?

Sea level rise isn't fanciful, its actually happened before. Wonder what the citzens of Copenhagen, St Petersburg & Rekjavik will think of this.
2011-09-21 13:42:41 | corrected graphics: some of Florida restored; Cuba restored to current ocean image

Steve, I restored some of Florida so it's more defensible if one want to challenge us over the detail. I also noticed I had not included Cuba in the current ocean so I added it and made sure the gulf stream goes south of Cuba. jg

Steve, I should have added the line "Source for Earth's topology: NASA/JPL-Caltech" to my illustrations. Do you want me to upload a revised set, or would it be convenient to add this as note at the end of the blog post. Though I've greatly manipulated the original NASA image, in light of the Bishop Hill criticism, we should make sure this awknowledgement is in there.

I've added the NASA/JPL credit, though I think losing Florida still qualifies as crime of the year ;-)

Hi Steve, I did a test with your post. I created a quick n dirty animated gif of the ocean changes. A lot of image quality is lost in the GIF and I didn't try to adapt to the format, but could. It looks better in Flash. I posted a GIF version here: BSW |
