A post evaluating the various Republican presidential candidates' climate science quotes.  I tried to keep the political commentary to a minimum and stick to evaluating the science.  Let me know what you think.

- on Perry's claim about scientists' creating a stream of $: The email issue seems to be a non-sequitor of a response.

- on CO2 as a "pollutant": I always find that a bit annoying, because CO2 is not toxic, the way O3, CO, etc. are. I think the point is that excessive CO2 can have harmful effects even if it doesn't directly cause physiological problems.

Yeah, I may have to modify the one-liner response to Perry' $ quote. We don't have a specific rebuttal to that particular gem, but 'Climategate' is close enough [both suggest scientists falsifying data for one reason or another]. But we can modify the one-liner response when it's not specific to the quote in question.

Current draft:

Most of the candidates appear not to be heeding Huntsman's strategist's warning not to allow the Republican Party to become the anti-science party, as many of them deny very basic science like the warming of the planet, and accuse climate scientists of falsifying data.

Suggested rewrite:

With the exception of Mitt Romney, John Huntsman's warning to his fellow candidates seems to be falling on deaf ears as many of them deny the basic science about the warming of the planet and accuse climate scientists of falsifying data. Since climate denial seems to be a litmus test of the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party, the Tea Party, and Libertarians, the candidates' views are not likely to change between now and the Republican convention in 2012.

Revised the end, added a reference to the Climate Misinformers page, and to the UCS resource.
