I put together a mainstream media version of the Lindzen summary article.  Let me know if you have any comments.

Richard Lindzen: The Anti-Galileo

These two paragraphs seem repetitive, can you compress them so you don't repeat the same thing twice?

Over the years, Dr. Lindzen's views have evolved somewhat, and he has specifically or tacitly admitted that he was wrong about the first three beliefs in the above list.  However, he still subscribes to the final five, and makes these arguments in mainstream media articles and interviews, and in testimony at government hearings, trying to convince the public and policymakers that we don't need to worry about climate change or do anything to prevent it.  It would be great if Dr. Lindzen were correct and we could just continue on with business as usual without a care in the world.  Unfortunately, every single one of his arguments is contradicted by the scientific evidence.

Dr. Lindzen was correct to admit fault in the first three arguments above, because the surface temperature record has accurately measured the 0.8°C (1.4°F) global warming over the past century.  Studies have shown that CO2 is the most important greenhouse gas in terms of driving global temperature changes, and that water vapor in the atmosphere (another greenhouse gas) acts to amplify, not dampen global warming.  Dr. Lindzen wisely let these incorrect arguments fall by the wayside, but he continues to cling to the other five faulty claims.

Lots of nice gratuitious links to SkS :-)

I wonder if the banner at the end is too flippant. Or do we need to get more outrageous and colourful in order to attract attention? After all, when climate scientist rap comes out with these lyrics:

The Green house effect is just a theory sucker
Yeah so is gravity float away muther f***er

SkS is pretty tame in comparison.

John, is it me or is the "Lindzen Illusions" logo (which is really nice by the way) cropped slightly at the bottom?

Alby, did Dana put you up to this?! :-)

Yes, I was trying to make the lettering as big as possible. Dana pointed it out initially, I overruled him, now everyone else is pointing it out and Dana is sitting back and smiling smugly. I'll fix the damn logo!

2011-05-12 17:45:25BTW, happy birthday Dana!

Better add those to the climate scientist quotes database!.

Yeah, a wee bit overcooked on the cropping there.

Sorry John.  No Dana, is innocent, at least on this count ;)

Thanks John.  Sorry, the chopped off text is just a bit distracting :-)  I revised the two paragraphs John mentioned - any other comments?

Have replaced the buttons/banner with unchopped text and added the button to the left margin. Loving "Lindzen Illusions" next to "Monckton Myths" - looking forward to adding Christy Crocks and Carter Confusion to the pile. I even started work on a Christy Crocks button, involving a crock pot - still a work in progress :-)

Am emailing this now to Guardian first. I confess I'm not optimistic with them - if that fails, I'll then try Treehugger.

Thanks John.  I actually linked to the Christy Crocks page in Carter Confusion #1 even though we haven't launched it officially.  Hope that's not a problem.

The Carter Confusion button will have to feature a bunch of question marks, I think :-)
