i put together a post debunking the Gish Gallop crapola from the PreventingDisease.com document John linked in the General Chat forum.  Called it Preventing Misinformation.  It took quite a while - that was a major compliation of really stupid myths.  Let me know if you've got feedback.

Dana, this is great. I suggest you post this Tuesday morning, the sooner the better.

Can I suggest you rewrite the first sentence to remove the Dept of Climate Change, not sure they'd like us invoking their name. That's a relationship I'd like to foster in the future - they were quite interested in the carbon pricing myths we're starting to work on (albeit slowly, still waiting to hear from the Climate Institute).

Indent quote "There is no proof at all [that CO2 causes a greenhouse effect"

Re winters warming, wonder if it's worthwhile linking to the 'winter warming faster than summer' blog post just to further sink the boot in about winter warming

Indent "The hottest records in the USA and Greenland were in the 1930s due to a strong solar cycle"

"The mid-century cooling had nothing to do with the Sun" - hmm, nothing? The warming sun trend did arrest itself during mid-century so it may have had a little to do with it.

"2009 and 2010 were two of the hottest years on record" - maybe link to Robert's blog post about 2010 being the hottest year on record.

Great post Dana

Perhaps in the section on Ozone, spell out that we took action on CFC emissions 30 years ago but atmospheric concentrations taking much longer to stabilise. Again shows Thompson is either ignorant or mendacious

Very good skinjob (you're gonna have to watch BSG). I think Nealstradamus (a.k.a Neal King) created a good analogy for the meme about CO2 being a tiny percentage of the atmosphere, but too long of an analogy would simply detract from your post.

Good comments guys, thanks.  Except John, I couldn't find the winter warming blog post you referred to.  Do you have a link?  I made all the other changes.

Rob - BSG?
