Actually it's J. Storrs Hall on WUWT regarding Rob H's Crux of a Core. He sure didn't say much. "I have a PhD" and "Vostok is similar to GISP2". And of course "Al Gore did it too!". He could have written that post in about 2 sentences, except then we would have missed out on “SkepticalScience” alarmist fanboi blog. Is this worth a response? Like "hey Dr. Dipstick, Vostok is just one location too!"? And oh, by the way, Vostok and GISP2 data are included in the figure Rob provided in his post. Ridiculously easy to rebut if we think it's worth the effort. Just re-post the graph that shows multiple different Holocene temperature proxies. Rob wins 8 to 2.

I dont trust the multiple holocene proxies image to be honest.

I forgot to add that he really pissed me off when he basically called Dr. Jeff Masters a dumbass. He has no business dragging in an innocent bystander into all this (or has Masters called him to the carpet in the past?).
You're right on the graph he doctored up: just an exercise in curve-fitting.

Why don't you trust that image, Robert? Whether you trust it or not, it's certainly a whole lot better than what Hall did in his "rebuttal", just throwing the two proxies together on the same axes inaccurately, and then eyeballing it and basically saying "they kinda look the same so I'm right". I think this is a good opportunity to highlight the shoddy "analysis" that's done on WUWT.

Just curious, what's with the spelling of "fanboi"?
I haven't looked at his post in detail yet but it amuses me how WUWT accuse scientists of corruption, deception, hoaxers... Then Rob uses the word Mr and they all get into a tizzy of an outrage. Reminds me of Anthony Watts' foam speckled rant when John Bruno used the d-word. At WUWT, there's a general agreement never to link to SkS (first they ignore you...), the exception being guest posts like this. When the "Climate Change Denial" book comes out, will be interesting to see the reaction at WUWT - this will be one SkS action they won't ignore, methinks.

According to Urban Dictionary, "fanboi" is "Someone who is hopelessly devoted to something and will like anything associated with thier particular thing." Not much different than "fanboy", except the latter seems to generally relate to geeky things like video games, comic books, and Star Wars. Apparently SkS isn't geeky enough to merit "fanboy" status, in Hall's mind.

Sure fair enough, just averaging the proxies together is a little dubious. |
