Just a quick post to wish you all a Merry Christmas. It's been an insane 2010 - an immensely exciting and rewarding year. For me, the most exciting aspect of this year was developing this community of intelligent, passionate fellow "climate warriors" (yes, even more exciting than the iPhone app). Am really looking forward to 2011 where I hope we can move onward and upward and have an even greater impact, making some real inroads into public opinion on climate change. So thanks to all of you for your involvement, thoughts, ideas, energy and passion and I hope you all have a great holiday break!

Best wishes to all. I second John hoping that next year we all together will do a even more egregious work than in 2010.

Hope everyone's enjoying their end-of-year festivities - just ignore the cricket, John. Glad this site is getting the recognition it deserves - here's to an even better 2011, and thanks for letting us get involved.

(Riccardo: In English, "egregious" has a negative meaning!)

Yesterday was a dark, dark day for Australian cricket. I'd been looking forward to Boxing Day all week - the plan was to sit on the couch all day watching cricket while reading climate papers on the ipad. Cricket was a disaster. But I did read a fascinating paper on CO2 residence time.

OK, John, spill the beans on the CO2 residence time paper!

Just a draft paper (not yet published) a scientist emailed me months ago - I've been meaning to read it for ages so I'm sure he's pretty annoyed that it's taken me this long. He also posts on and off at SkS and noticed he posted some comments just over the last few days. The paper is written as a rebuttal to the argument that CO2 residence time is only 5 years so we have nothing to worry about.
