Just letting all the authors know I just signed up Skeptical Science for Blog Action Day. What that means is on Oct 16, Skeptical Science will do a blog post about water. I haven't decided what yet but plenty of angles to cover - drought, extreme precipitation, sea level, etc. There's been a couple of studies come out just recently on the increase in the hydrological cycle so there's plenty of fertile ground there:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/10/101004151700.htm which is a report on Satellite-based global-ocean mass balance estimates of interannual variability and emerging trends in continental freshwater discharge.

Anyway, anyone is welcome to do a blog post on the subject of water - let me know if you do plan to do a post and on what topic to avoid duplication of effort.

Thanks!

Hmm, the emphasis might be on drinking water - need to look into that further.

If the focus is drinking water than a post about melting glaciers could be the "hook".

It looks like it's primarily focused on drinking water, but also issues like agricultural water supplies.

I might be interested in doing a blog post on future projections regarding California's water supply.

In case I get time to put together a post by the 16th, I'm starting to collect links and resources on the topic. Here's a good blog post by Scott Mandia:

I started drafting up a California water post.  Should have a draft done this weekend.
